Scott County Boys

If you like hard-driving banjo, silky fiddle and an old-time voice straight from Clinch Mountain, The Scott County Boys are the band for you.
The Scott County Boys Band was formed in 1995 when friends and brothers decided to pool their talents and create a classic, yet unique, style of bluegrass. The new sound was made up of tight, fast-paced picking with hints of the Stanley Brothers harmony.
Kenneth Davis, just off the road with Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys, met up with friends Steve Edwards and Eric McMurray and planned to get together and "pick." They discovered the blend to be effortless. When Steve's brother, David Edwards, joined the other three, the new sound was an obvious fit for the four. After a few years, and a few transitions in the group's cast that saw bass players Teddy Helton and Tolley Fleming join the group, the band had come back to three of its original members: Steve Edwards on violin, Kenneth Davis on guitar, and David Edwards on mandolin and bass. Mitchell VanDyke joined the group on banjo in the new millennium and formed the sound the Scott County Boys sport today.
The Scott County Boys have recorded three projects, each with their own personality but all rooted in the rich tradition of music born in Southwest Virginia and East Tennessee.
