
Moccasin Gap

Formed in 2001, the bluegrass band Moccasin Gap has developed a repertoire that includes traditional bluegrass tunes, old-time fiddle tunes, and pop songs delivered in the bluegrass style. The band has recorded songs ranging from Bill Monroe's Sweet Blue Eyed Darlin' to Johnny Nash's I Can See Clearly Now.
Moccasin Gap has played many notable events such as the 75th Anniversary of the 1927 Bristol Recording Sessions and the Rhythm and Roots Reunion held in Bristol, TN. Other regional events include Mayberry Days in Mount Airy, NC and the Papa Joe Smiddy Mountain Music Festival held at Virginia's Natural Tunnel State Park. Over the past nine years, Moccasin Gap has regularly booked shows with longstanding venues such as The Carter Family Fold in Hiltons, VA, Cranberry Thistle in Jonesborough, TN, and Bellamy's Hardware in Surgoinsville, TN.
The members of Moccasin Gap are: Eric McMurray (vocals, mandolin and fiddle); Luanne McMurray (vocals, upright bass); Bob Blackstock (vocals, rhythm guitar); Kieth Sims (banjo); and Daniel Houseright (lead guitar).
